Water is so important for the human body. Not only does it keep us hydrated and functioning well, it aids us in getting rid of the yucky stuff. Water lubricates joints, acts as a shock absorder, regulates temperature, aids digestion and makes us look younger...
Have I got your attention yet?
Think about it. Dehydration verses hydration. Its simple. If you are dehydrated you will look like a prune and if you are hydrated you will look like a plum.
Why do we find it so hard to drink 8 glasses of water? We can drink 8 glasses or cups of things like tea, coffee, wine and soft drinks. Is it just a mindset? Why does it seem easier to drink than water? It is detrimental to the body since all are diuretics which increases urinary output. Have you ever wondered why you go to the toilet more after drinking tea, coffee or alcohol? Why you can have a hangover after drinking a small amount of alcohol?
The first thing I deal with in all my clients is hydration. Everyone of them doesn’t drink enough water. It shows in the fingers. Little wrinkled prunes, when what we want are plums.
Dehydration
If we haven’t got enough water in our bodies things become sticky. Mucus gets sticky and we have what we call sinus. Blood gets sticky and it increases our blood pressure. Digestion gets sticky and we call it constipation. Our immune system depends on it. Pain is a big one. Without water the lubrication in our joints become thin and friction can occur causing pain. Imagine no water in your spine. Everyday activity would become impossibly painful. Shaking your head would cause concussion. With this cold weather you would freeze. No water to regulate your body temperature. We owe a lot to a simple everyday liquid.
Simply drinking more water can cure you of so many ailments. However it is not as easy as that. Years of dehydration and drinking tea, coffee and alcohol leaves the body constantly in the process of getting rid of water, so when you drink more you go to the toilet more. A simple trick to eliminate this is to add a squeeze of lemon juice or teaspoon of raw apple cider vinegar and a pinch of Himalayan salt. It’s cheap, effective and so good for your overall health. Himalayan salt contains a vast range of minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium and potassium which gives the salt its iconic pink colour. It will restore your hydration and minerals quickly and you may find that your appetite decreases too.
So lets be beautiful and choose to be a plum!
